Dedicated IP

  • How do I setup domains with dedicated IP addresses ?

Your domains that you setup in your WHM are by default, name-based accounts. This means they share the IP address of the server. Some instances call for a dedicated IP address, such as using an SSL certificate etc. If you require a dedicated IP address for a domain, follow these steps before you create that domain in your WHM -

(1). - Purchase a block of IP addresses.

(2). - Then email us with the domains you'd like to create a dedicated IP address with. We will then "unreserve" those IP addresses for those domains and email you back telling you to proceed to step (3).

(3). - Access the "Create a New Account" page in your WHM.

(4). - Then complete the form on that page with your domain info. TICK the IP address box -

(5). - Also make sure to CHOOSE the IP from the IP drop down menu -

(6). - Then press the "Create" button once you have also completed all the other fields on that page.

Your domain is now created with the dedicated IP address. Access your control panel for that domain [before propagation] at http://yournewIP/cpanel

Upload your files to your new IP address into public_html.

IMPORTANT NOTE : If you need a dedicated IP address for a domain that you already have setup in your WHM, then you will need to delete that domain and recreate it, choosing the IP address.

We cannot assign dedicated IP addresses to existing name-based domains due to a bug in the master WHM software. What happens is that the site resolves to the new IP address ok, but will does not resolve to the domain name. It instead pulls up the apache domain holder page.
